Pedodontics (Pediatric Dentistry) FAQs
When can I expect to see my baby’s first tooth?
It is different from one child to another. Could be as early as 3 months or as late as 13 months. Your dentist can confirm the eruption date for your child.
At what age should my child begin coming to the dentist?
After the first tooth appears, but definitely by 12-24 months.
How often should my children brush their teeth?
The same as you, twice a day, after breakfast and before he goes to bed.
How can I keep my child’s teeth cavity free?
1- Be sure to remove plaque twice a day.
2- Limit sweets to after meals–not between!
3- Visit the dentist twice a year.
4- Include fluoride at checkups and Consider sealants applied to your child’s teeth if recommended.
If baby teeth are going to fall out anyway, why fill them?
Baby teeth hold a place open so that the adult teeth can come up in proper alignment. If a baby tooth is lost early that can make it difficult or impossible for the adult teeth to erupt probably.
My child has a new permanent tooth, but it’s not as white as the baby teeth. Is this stain?
No, it is not stained. Adult teeth are normally darker than baby teeth.
What is a Sealant?
A sealant is a clear protective coating, painted onto the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to prevent bacteria and decay.
What is sleep dentistry?
It is recommended for apprehensive children or children with special medical needs. Sleep dentistry
can be very comfortable for many children and their parents in some cases.
